WEEK 3: EPC WORKSHOP

Image
ASSEMBLAGE This week was quite eventful, during the week I did my assignment for the colour workshop and brought it along with me to class, without realizing I am having colour workshop the following week and I had EPC that morning.  I went down to the workshop after realizing I was supposed to be there, we mentioned different methods of assembling materials, which were, joining, tying, welding, nailing, sewing, braising, screwing, bonding, taping, stitching, clipping, pinning, wiring and many more. I didn't bring any materials for the EPC workshop because I didn't know I had EPC; nevertheless, after finding chopsticks and tape in my bag, I went to the EPC workshop and got some scraps of wood and plastic to use for the evaluation. I believed that these materials could be used to create anything. The enjoyable part was that I wasn't asked to design anything, we were told to just assemble the materials then think about design.  Image 1: Materials gotten and used Image 2: M...

WEEK 2: A WALK WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

Image
A WALK WITH THE ENVIRONMENT This week there was an online class on critical thinking by Geoffrey Thompson. From this class, I was able to get an understanding of critical thinking, which is using your ability to reason. while critically thinking these set of questions pop in mind, 'who?' 'where?', 'when?', "what?', 'why?', 'what if?', 'how?' and 'so what?'. While critically thinking you need to be aware that the center person is  YOU .  Now in the physical class we had, we were all asked to share how the week went for us and the words we took for a walk. Although I am getting used to the cold I still took a walk as it is necessary to get familiar with the environment and also take ' EMOTIONAL CLIMATE ' for a walk.  Emotional climate is the climate of the community, it quantifies the happiness, sadness, fear, and anxiety of people in places. You cannot force an emotional climate, it can emerge from unexpected cir...

WEEK 1: VIBRANT MATTER

Image
VIBRANT MATTER  WOW, my first day in class, also my first time writing a blog or even thinking of writing one, go easy on me as I share my thoughts on my first class.  Today a text was read to us and the text read to us examines how non-human elements i.e the weather, has an influence on the human point of view and decision. The SUNNY Tuesday morning played a great role in how the person encountered the items i.e the sun made the items shimmer and shine back and forth which made them not easy to be ignored. If the sun had not glittered on the black glove, then the writer wouldn’t have been able to see the pollen as well as the dead rat, the white bottle plastic cap, and the smooth stick of wood as they were. In this text, the who scenery was an abstract combination of materials and objects which were made as a whole. The items and materials were no longer seen as just items but as things that made a whole assemblage, meaning one thing made another thing to be noticed. T...
