WEEK 2: A WALK WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

 A WALK WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

This week there was an online class on critical thinking by Geoffrey Thompson. From this class, I was able to get an understanding of critical thinking, which is using your ability to reason. while critically thinking these set of questions pop in mind, 'who?' 'where?', 'when?', "what?', 'why?', 'what if?', 'how?' and 'so what?'. While critically thinking you need to be aware that the center person is YOU

Now in the physical class we had, we were all asked to share how the week went for us and the words we took for a walk. Although I am getting used to the cold I still took a walk as it is necessary to get familiar with the environment and also take 'EMOTIONAL CLIMATE' for a walk.

Emotional climate is the climate of the community, it quantifies the happiness, sadness, fear, and anxiety of people in places. You cannot force an emotional climate, it can emerge from unexpected circumstances.

While taking a walk, I discovered that the atmosphere outside, the atmosphere in my flat, the atmosphere in my room, the atmosphere when I am around my friend, Laurinal, and when I'm in class were all totally different. Walking outside always made me intrigued and want to try new things, not necessarily happy just curious which is normal as I am new to this country, in my room, I feel alone cause I don't really talk much with my flatmates, which makes me quite sad but it isn't all that because I do not take it to heart. whenever I go out with my friend I'm happy cause I'm not trying new things alone and I have someone that can relate to some things as we are both from the same country.

Now in class, the atmosphere makes me happy because it is a different method of teaching that is being used here, and meeting new faces with different ideas makes me fully engaged and want to continue learning.

We were later told to get into groups, 4 in each group which was later made to 8. In those groups, we were told to do a mapping of the different parts of Portsmouth. I learned about Waste Management, and as individuals, we should help reduce wats using the thee Rs Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

We are burning more than we recycle which is making the emissions of CO2 rise on a daily basis. As an aspiring Architect, my designs, need to be sustainable and prevent more wastage.

Before class ended, we were told we would be grouped into two different groups, EPC WORKSHOP, and COLOUR WORKSHOP for weeks 3 and 4.

  1. Keep developing and working with the idea of emotional climates and what this means to you. Keep working with others!
