BREATH DRAWINGS

On our adventure to Wymering manor, we had so many breath drawings and sound drawings. We all made music with Wymering, by hitting different materials against different materials, it produced different sounds.

Sebastine directed each ‘musical instrument’ in a rhythmic way, and we were able to make a performance.

A lot of people do not really know the way we breath has rhythm. Breathe drawings teach relaxation, concentration and mindfulness.

During the breath exercises, I felt my pulse and tried drawing the pulse as we were told to do for the exercise. It was difficult to use my non-dominant hand to draw, I gave my less dominant hand power to make the drawings of the pulse my other hand felt. As I started to draw my less dominant hand became dominant.

My Thoughts during the Breath Drawings

It can be used as a therapy as it is a valuable form of simplicity. An alteration in the breath change like a thought, a trauma, noise or something else can change the quality of the lines that are being drawing.

Drawings inspired by breath can give your work a spontaneous, unpredictable quality. Unexpected patterns and shapes can be produced by the way air flows and interacts with the material, producing results that are distinctive and fascinating.

Breath drawings is a powerful tool for connecting with your body and the present moment when included into artistic processes. It promotes an attention to the present moment and is consistent with mindfulness practises.

Breath Drawings is a great way to explore with multiple media because it may be done with ink, watercolour, or even digital tools. New styles and techniques may be found as a result of this exploration.
