HARMONY REDISCOVERED: MUSICAL CHAIR

Image
POSTER 1 POSTER 2 This captivating story takes place against the backdrop of Wymering Manor's distinguished past. By incorporating the musical artefact that was created by hand, the manor is able to seamlessly link with the artistic traditions it has observed over the years, bringing life to the concrete vestiges of the past. Looking deeper into Wymering Manor's imagined future, the idea of a Music Room seems like a bold move in the direction of cultural enrichment. The mansion, which stood silently as a witness to history, is now poised to resound with the melodies of education and artistic expression. This Music Room goes beyond historical boundaries to provide a dynamic environment for the development of musical talent, rather than merely preserving Wymering Manor as a historical landmark. A lot of thought went into incorporating a music classroom within the manor. Architectural subtleties blend seamlessly with acoustical accuracy, guaranteeing that Wymering Manor's very...

FINAL DESIGN - MUSIC ROOM

Image
My design entails making use of a small part of Wymering Manor but affecting Wymering as a whole. A MUSIC ROOM Creating a lively and essential music room that honours the manor's historical heritage while simultaneously establishing it as a thriving cultural hub. The intention is for the music room to become an essential and captivating aspect of the Wymering Manor experience as a whole. Not just to preserve Wymering Manor as a historical landmark, this Music Room goes above and beyond historical bounds to offer a dynamic atmosphere for the development of musical talent. Below are some features done and the reasons; 1.Japanese Seiza This traditional sitting position is frequently connected to different traditional arts forms, tea ceremonies, and meditation in Japan. In context of designing a music room, below are the reasons for using it; Seiza is renowned for encouraging proper alignment and focus. SENSES AND THE PHENOMENOLOGY OF PERCEPTION

Image
The concept of "body schema," as introduced by Merleau-Ponty, refers to an implicit and pre-reflective understanding of one's own body and its relationship to the outside world. Our movements and interactions with the outside world are guided by this dynamic, sensory map that is our body schema. The concept of perception as an embodied act is highlighted by Merleau-Ponty, who rejects the idea that perception is merely a detached and passive process of taking in sensory data. Our perception and understanding of the world are fundamentally shaped by our body's sensory abilities. Multiple senses are integrated in perception, according to Merleau-Ponty, who also claims that perception is not only dependent on discrete sensory inputs. He talks about how touch, vision, and other senses are intertwined and proposes that the body's perceptual system produces a cohesive and meaningful experience. The Phenomenal Body: According to Merleau-Ponty, the body is a "phenomen...

REMAKING A PIECE OF FURNITURE - MUSICAL CHAIR.

Image
Remaking and Revitalising old furniture has a certain beauty in a world that frequently favours the new. Re-purposing furniture, whether it's an heirloom from the family, something you found at a thrift store, or something you picked up off the curb, can be a creative and satisfying process. From the creative theories exercises, there was an imaginative exercise we did that was given to us by Nigel, the text I imagined was what was used to remake my piece of furniture.   ‘ I CAN IMAGINE A MUSIC PARTY GOING ON, I CAN IMAGINE KIDS RUNNING DOWN THE STAIRS ’   I went to the British Heart Foundation at the City Centre to search for a furniture, I opted for wood because it mirrors the historical aesthetic. Sensory Site Analysis Mapping: Unveiling the User Experience.

Image
Understanding user experience extends beyond visual aesthetics in the field of design. Designers are increasingly using a sensory approach, to genuinely attract and interest users. Using the harmonic interaction of sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell, I explored how the ancient Wymering Manor engages its people through a sensory site analysis mapping journey in this blog.   SIGHT As the eyes travel around Wymering Manor's corridors and chambers, they are treated to a visual feast of architectural splendour and historical artefacts. A visual sensory site analysis would look into the delicate intricacies of the manor's construction, the play of light and shadow on old walls, and the visual storytelling woven into its historical tapestry. In Wymering you get to see people, colours, trees, ghost as they say, furniture, artefacts, Wymering itself and get to engage with them.   HEAR When I closed my eyes, Wymering Manor tells me stories from the past. Analysing the auditory land...

BREATH DRAWINGS

Image
On our adventure to Wymering manor, we had so many breath drawings and sound drawings. We all made music with Wymering, by hitting different materials against different materials, it produced different sounds.   Sebastine directed each ‘musical instrument’ in a rhythmic way, and we were able to make a performance.   A lot of people do not really know the way we breath has rhythm. Breathe drawings teach relaxation, concentration and mindfulness.   During the breath exercises, I felt my pulse and tried drawing the pulse as we were told to do for the exercise. It was difficult to use my non-dominant hand to draw, I gave my less dominant hand power to make the drawings of the pulse my other hand felt. As I started to draw my less dominant hand became dominant.   My Thoughts during the Breath Drawings   It can be used as a therapy as it is a valuable form of simplicity. An alteration in the breath change like a thought, a trauma, noise or something else can change th...

THE COLD DARK MATTER

Image
ADAPTIVE REUSE   The idea of "adaptive reuse" has gained popularity recently as a creative and sustainable way to re-purpose pre-existing structures. The Cold Dark Matter Shed is one such fascinating area that has become central to this revolutionary movement. This seemingly ordinary building, which was formerly intended to serve a particular role, is currently undergoing a revitalization and re-imagining, demonstrating how even the most unlikely locations can become centres of sustainability, functionality, and creativity.   Let us first examine the Cold Dark Matter Shed from an understanding perspective, before delving into its adaptive reuse. Originally intended for a specific use, either industrial or storage, this modest building today provides architects, designers, and visionaries with an empty canvas on which to explore new ideas. It is the perfect candidate for a creative alteration because of its distinctive qualities, which include its shape, location, and historic...
