THINKING THROUGH DRAWING

Back to class, and the first week was all about drawing. Seeing new faces made me nervous a little, but here we are.

Drawing is a type of note-taking. It is a communication tool used in design practise. We were instructed to bring a chosen object of importance to us from our homes as well as a piece of cardboard. Getting to class, I noticed a number of interesting and significant objects.

We all did as instructed and drew pictures of our precious objects.  I was reminded of the first time I had my object by drawing it. We were instructed to hand our cardboards to the person on our left after the entire drawing, but there was a twist. All I could think of was how beautifully the drawing was done as I was holding someone else's cardboard.

We were then instructed to arrange everything we had on the table and to sketch what we saw from each angle. I did my best to work with the drawing, not to change the prior work done by a classmate, but to take that into consideration while I was drawing.

Following this session, there was an additional twist: we were instructed to give the cardboard to the person on our left once more and then use the cardboard we had with us to draw the persons seated at the table. My priceless cardboard was two seats away. We all did that. Since my artwork on someone else's cardboard wasn't mine, I tried not to get attached to it.

Everyone had an influence on three separate cardboards, including their own, and each one had three distinct sorts of drawings, colours, and thickness, creating a stunning work of art.

In summary, we were all able to express what we saw, our opinions, our thoughts, and our viewpoints. We also worked together and added to each other's efforts without detracting from them.
